PVD Chrome

Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is an OEM approved technology that is now available for automotive wheels.

This is the best alternative to traditional chrome plating due to the fact that PVD is environmentally friendly with a finish more durable than traditional chrome plating. The PVD finishes have been on the road for almost twenty years with no warranty returns.

A PVD coated wheel eliminates the many problems you normally see with pitting and peeling on the chrome surface.

The OEM approved manufacturing process uses powder coatings for the base and clear topcoat layers. Sandwiched between is a simple metal alloy which is applied under vacuum. The process does not consume or emit any harmful materials to our air, water, or soil. Since there is no need to control pollutants, the PVD coating process also consumes less raw energy, thus further reducing the environmental footprint and cost.

Unlike the layered metal system of traditional chrome plating, PVD coatings are very light. On average, the PVD finish can save up to 50% on coating weight alone. This benefit is quickly realized in overall fuel efficiency for your vehicle.
